Hello, neighbor. We're the Hedges.
In 2019, we changed our diet and it changed our lives. Our neighbors played a huge role in enabling us to get our hands on real food from their farm. So we decided to dip our toes in the water of farming by getting some laying hens and raising meat chickens.
When COVID hit, our offer of selling organic chicken to cover our own costs took off and turned into raising several hundred within a few months. After buying a house (and a milk cow) we began selling raw milk from our little farm store as well as the chicken, eggs, and some products from local farmers.
In 2022, we finished flipping our house and the Lord provided us with a house in town. Adjusting to living in town, after whetting our appetite for direct to consumer farming, forced us to get creative.
With no cow, no land, and the same calling to raise local food for our community, we were given the generous offer of farming on someone else's land. As we establish this direct-to-neighbor sales channel, we have partnered with local farmers who can provide what we cannot while we wait on the Lord's timing to purchase our own land.
This new kind of American farm, that's reliant on a community and spans multiple generations, is terribly exciting to be a part of. We can't wait to get more food from around here to people around here.
Welcome to Hedge Valley Farms!
